Heifer International: Donation Transparency through Blockchain
The Project
Heifer International approached us with a prevalent issue—the widespread absence of transparency and accountability in the donation process—frequently encountered within the non-profit sector leading to donor skepticism and a hesitancy to participate.
Objectives & Goals
Our goal was to enhance the donation experience on Heifer's web app and build donor trust through the transparency offered by smart contracts. Every aspect of this project has been carefully designed to boost donor satisfaction and visibility, ultimately resulting in increased contributions.
The Problem
At present, it is difficult for donors to see exactly how their contributions are being utilized. This lack of clarity is a barrier to donors understanding effects of their resources on specific projects, leading to dissatisfaction and a diminished desire for further contribution.

Our Solution
How did we solve our client's needs?
Donors collaborate with Heifer through a smart contract, which records all donations on the blockchain. Each time Heifer uses donated funds for a transaction, it automatically updates the contract. This feature allows donors to track precisely how their contributions are being utilized with complete security.
Donors are also provided with access to an admin panel where they can add or modify projects and enable direct communication with Heifer for discussions about ongoing projects and donations. Inside this admin panel, donors can explore project details, descriptions, funding progress, and make contributions using preferred currency.
A "Donation History" section is available to review previous donations, their allocations, and access the blockchain smart contract associated with each donation.
